When will Certain Fate be public?

For some of you this is the very question you've been asking me ever since I started the book 6 months ago.  After six months a lot has happened, not only with this book but just with everything in general. Certain Fate would have gone public much sooner, but I read over the first draft and felt extremely embarrassed.  I continued to read over it and I told myself that I couldn't post it on inkpop until I fixed it.

Well, I guess since you've been waiting for six months you expect there to be something extremely outstanding in the book.  You expect to start it and automatically be addicted to it as if it's a drug.  Honestly, I do not know if this will be the case.

All the same, I've been working on and off with STRONGER and am facing the reality of not reaching 50K.  This being the case, I'm going to be working on Certain Fate some so it can finally go public.

December.  In December that is when I would like to finally have this book public.  STRONGER is already set to go live, and then Arisen Darkness is going to be started in December.  I do not know what will happen to Certain Fate.  It depends on whether I can get back into the book after I reach 10K.

Certain Fate --who choses your fate...you or destiny?

A new cover has been made for Certain Fate at last, which means that hopefully after Nano I will be able to make this book public for you to read.  I know there are several of you who have been waiting at the edge of your seat for this book, so please know that I understand you've been as patient as possible.  I have not forgotten about this book; it simply needs a few thousand words more and then it can go live.

Hope you like the covers. I would post the summary to the book, but I've already talked about it before and the summary is also on the "now working on" page.

Keep in mind that while I've said this book is "on the shelf" that is only for the time being.  Hopefully before Christmas --way before then--the book will be up for you to read and comment on.  And hopefully not too many people will come back telling me they hate it because then I think my mind would just explode.  In December matters are going to get kind of crazy with my writing, so I've figured that I should probably first work on get 10,000 for Certain Fate and then work on Arisen Darkness.  I didn't say anything about Cursed with Power because in December I'll still be typing more chapters to the book, as I always am, so there's really no need for me to explain further into that.

Planning ahead...Yeah right, I wish

I actually have done some planning of what I want to get accomplished for today, but whether I will actually complete these plans I've set out with is another story.  I have to work until 8pm tonight, so it's not exactly like my afternoon is free me to blog and whatnot.
Later this evening I hope to....

• continue working on chapter 7 of Cursed with Power  --I feel like I've wasted way too long staring at the first two paragraphs for this chapter and I need to get the story moving along not only so I can have a state of peace in mind but so my readers --yes, you all--can read what you've been waiting for
• finish chapter 2 of Certain Fate --I've procrastinated with this book, I admit it.  However, I honestly do want to write the first 10,000 words so it can at last go public.  Hooray, hooray!  (What, am I the only one excited?)
• Revise/re-write/do something with the prologue off Everblue --not all that many people have read Everblue, but I've recently tried to begin polishing it because I'm so sick and tired of saying "here's another book I haven't finished"
• Finish prologue for The Magic of Light --yes, I'm thinking a prologue is necessary and besides I really like prologues and feel if I can pull the reader in at that point of the story then no worries...yeah, I wish it was that easy....

As you can see I have written out too much for myself to do today, but I pretty much go through this everyday.  Why am I sharing this with you?  It's so when and if I am blogging later tonight you can remind me of this long list full with madness I have to get working on.

Really, I mean look at that list.  FOUR BOOKS?!  It is madness and it's probably mentally destroying me working on so many projects as once, but as I was working with different ideas I would lose track of where to go next and then I would begin a new project.  Now while I have Cursed with Power there are at least these other books which can keep me company when I feel that Celestria and I have lost connection with each other entirely.

For any of you avid readers out there, I'll let you in on a secret: I'm going to post the prologue of The Magic of Light on this blog once I have it finished.  You will be able to read it.  Shh, don't let anybody know I told you.

Throwing out the old, bringing in the NEW

For a long time now I haven't liked that the trilogy The Magic of Light is a part of was called The Magic of Light trilogy.  It was very uncreative of me, but maybe that's also because I decided on that when I was 12 years old.

Anyways, I finally decided that I needed to throw out that old part of the trilogy and throw in something new.

And since I'm blank for ideas with starting chapter 7 of Cursed with Power right now I'm either going to finish chapter 2 of Certain Fate or....God forbid re-write --yes I said the R word--the first chapter of The Magic of Light.
(I'll be honest with you...That book hasn't been revised in a long time, so really re-writing can only help it at this point.  Trust me.)

Certain Fate prologue PUBLIC

I've got exciting news for any of you out there who like reading new material of mine.

I wrote a prologue for Certain Fate and it's public on inkpop.  I've entered it in as a short story because the rest of the story is not at 10,000 words yet.  It's close to it, but you know how that won't happen in one day --or night for that matter.
You can read the prologue and tell me what you think.  I realize what happens in the prologue is rather shocking, but if you think that's shocking you'll want to read the rest of the story because it gets better --or so I think.

Delay on Certain Fate cover

I know there were several of you who were commenting and telling me that you were really looking forward to seeing the new cover for Certain Fate that my friend is making for me.

However, the scenario has changed to "it was a cover my friend was going to make for me".  Unfortunately things aren't going so well between us, I'm sorry to say.  And I'm not going to bore you with details, but that is why there is a delay on the cover for now.  I will not be asking someone else to do it for me because I had hoped my friend to make it, and it was going to be more meaningful if she did it.

I'll let you know when things change.
For now you could at the least comment and think of a way to get me smiling again?  Possibly...?

Certain Fate *news*

I've got news about Certain Fate for any of you who care.   I know it's been forever since I have talked about this book, so I apologize for that.

NEWS
Gabby is drawing the new cover for Certain Fate.  She's already start and I got to see a bit of a preview of what it's going to be like.  She and I still do not know when the cover will be finished, but at least it's been started on.
I am hoping it will be finished before the end of the month.

Now you're thinking, "This was it?  I thought this was going to be interesting news!" For me this is exciting and interesting because all the previous covers I've had for Certain Fate have been failures.  Finally the story is being saved by someone who actually is an artist.

Maybe chapter 18 today????

I feel as if I have been saying I'll finish chapter 18 for days upon days upon days --though in truth that is not the case-- but I do assure you I mean to finish and upload it when I am able to.  I am still behind with book swaps and I'm trying to catch up with comments, PMs, and everything else in between.
Besides that, I'm just trying to make sure that I don't make chapter 18 happen all too soon.  That doesn't make sense.  Um, what I'm trying to say is that events that happen in chapter 18 are essential to the story and I have to write them the correct way.

About other projects.... I am to have the cover of New Life soon up once it is finished.  I do not know exactly will that will be, but I am hoping soon.  Curtis, who did the cover for Cursed with Power, is also making the cover for New Life so expect something great.
A new cover for Certain Fate is being made by my friend, Gabby, who also made the cover for Dark Romance.  Unfortunately I do not know when she will make the cover, since she actually draws the covers instead of using a program.  She has a life like everybody else, so when she draws the cover and scans it over to me I'll let you know and of course post about it.
Innocent & Young should eventually be in the Teen Inkst magazine one of these lovely days.... Again, something else I also do not know the date of.

Writing more for Cursed with Power and OMG!!!!!!!!

Today I'll be writing more for Cursed with Power.  I really wanted to get back to work on it yesterday but I ended up working on dialog in my journal to get the chapter I'm working on right now to flow easier.  I think I also lost a supporter  for Cursed with Power today:(  I'm trying to find out who took the book off their pick list so I can inquire why they did so.

And besides that I have some other news....
First off, I found out there's a writing group going on this Friday so I am really hoping I can go.  You guys already know that the other one isn't till September, thus this one being sooner is great.  I'm not sure yet what I have to bring --if anything--and if we can bring our stories... Oh crap, I'll really have to work on The Magic of Light.  I mean, it's not like I haven't already edited it to death, but I think it still needs more editing.  A lot more.

Also, because I entered Dark Romance into the new contest on IP more people have began viewing it than anyone did for the several long months it's been up on IP.  And you know what everyone is telling me?  They're saying I should turn it into a book one day.  Oh boy, there's another thing I'll have to do.  Obviously I don't have to, but I mean I was considering it and now I'm figuring that eventually I should since so many people seem to think that's a good idea.

I dared to look over --glance would be the correct word to use, actually--Certain Fate two days ago... Oh, it's needs editing!  Even if I finished Cursed with Power and then can return to Certain Fate and get it up to 10,000 words there is no way I'm making it public until I polish it up.  It's just a disaster.  Dialog is too long, narration is confusing, paragraphs are extremely long, etc etc.  Well, I'll just have to fret over it when I return to it one day...

Writing a novel doesn't happen in a day

I know a lot of writers who are working on novels and then I know a lot who are seemingly avoiding that path.  I thought today I would just share with you something I've come to accept and get over when it comes to writing novels.
You cannot write a novel in a day.
Short stories and poems sometimes you can finish in one day if you really work all day on them, but novels, on the other hand, are a complete different story.  Literally.
When you are writing a novel you cannot really expect to finish it at any particular date.  (Of course, this does not apply if you working on something for Nano).  Novels can take months and months and even years to finish.  And that's just to finish it; it could be another several months or years before your work is all it can be.
How do I know, you ask?  Well, I was looking over my work last night and luckily for you I have brought you proof of the facts that I am stating.
Everblue-- started February 10th; it is now August.  6 MONTHS


Certain Fate-- started May 23rd; it is now August. ABOUT 3 MONTHS


Cursed with Power-- started June 27th; it is now August. ALMOST A MONTH
Keep in mind that everything I've used as an example above are novels that I've only been working on for several months and they are all still unfinished.  I didn't bring the examples of my other novels that are finished or are still unfinished and have remained so for several years.
My advice to you if you are writing or are considering writing a novel?  Be dedicated.  Be ready to forth a lot of focus, patience, and more focus towards this novel.
Hopefully this post has somewhat helped or inspired my fellow writers who are following or viewing this blog.  Just remember that when you're writing your novel you have to get comfortable and be ready for a long journey ahead of you.
