Arisen Darkness *public now*

That's right, you've read correctly.  Arisen Darkness is finally public on inkpop.  It took me forever to get the book public because of word count --I had 10k, but it came out 5 words short the first time--but at last it is here.  Despite the late hour I thought I would share with you that it has indeed released.

This means it's going on the "new release" page and being taken off the "coming soon" page.  Continue to check this pages since they are constantly being updated.

Also, eventually sometime this week I have to inform you about a rather major decision I made about something in Cursed with Power.  However, I do not know when I will find the time for that post.

A day with Arisen Darkness

The title explains it all --this is why I haven't finished chapter 14, haven't blogged earlier today, and have been losing my mind all day.  Like I told my friend, you have to be slightly insane to write.  (He doesn't believe me about that, though...)

My post about the making of STRONGER will be coming another time.  For now I must talk about Arisen Darkness because there is a fair chance it may go pubic tomorrow.  No promises, though; I can only write as much as my mind allows me to think.

A new summary will be coming up for Arisen Darkness because man has this book developed since day one.  Want to hear about it?  Too bad, I'm going to tell you about it whether you like it or no.

Originally I had two characters in this book named after two characters from another book of mine.  (Wait, did that make any sense?)  The main characters name was Daray --inspired by Daray in Guard the Sacred-- and his father's name was Malvagio --inspired by Daray's father in Guard the Sacred.  About halfway through the third chapter reality hit me.  Whoa, whoa, whoa, the characters in this book live in France.  Malvagio... That's a German word for "evil" or "dark" --I can't remember which and yes, I am too tired to look it up right now.  After reminding myself that I changed both of their names to French names.  (You're welcome.)  For some reason that is just really reassuring now.  (See, now we all can sleep after all.)

In one day I have written the first four chapters and I'm almost at 10,000.  I know I've said Certain Fate will go up, but just between you and me I think this book must come first because I've gotten addicted to it.  (Don't worry, though, Cursed with Power is still and always my main project I'm working on.)

Daray's name has changed to Leonce.  (There's an accent on the first "e" but again, am I really going to bother with copying an accent from Word?  Nope, not right now.)  He's certainly developed,  but...

I think it's safe to say Juliana has come along the furthest.  I did not know at first what her story was; I did not even understand how her and Leonce would meet.  Then, suddenly it came to me.  And I know you're wondering how it could come to me.  Well, I'll tell you how.  I was literally sitting in my room --for almost the entire day--listening to the same five songs over and over again.  (Not kidding; ask anyone who knows me.)  One song, above all hit me the most with what Juliana's main story to her life is.  

The open wound she hides
She just keeps it bundled up
And never lets it show
She can't take much more of this
But she can't let it go
And that's ok, she don't want the world

While he's just lying there
Without someone to hear her cry
She slips off into a dream

The song is called "She don't want the world" by 3 doors down.  If you've never listened to it before you definitely should. It's a brilliant song with an amazing meaning behind it.

Across this lake lays a destiny to be determined.  Or perhaps just more mountains... Either way, Leonce and Juliana are coming across that lake.  Soon you will be able to read how they do just this.  You will read their stories, as they unfold them to you, and in the back of your mind you may remember the voice giving you someone to talk to.

Arisen Darkness

Passion & Affection series, book 1

She was a temptress.  She was alluring and beautiful, and despite reasons I should hate her... I was in love.

Daray lives in the darkness.  He has every day of his life and he is certain this will never change.  Inside an abandoned castle he and his father, Malvagio, hide from the rest of the world.  Malvagio tells him this is because it makes them stronger.  However, Daray knows it is simply because there is more he must learn.  Whether the Dark magic kills him or no, his training must persist.

During the cold days Daray roams the empty fields and dead plains, he meets a woman.  She is attractive and smart, and he is automatically drawn toward her.  Everything about her makes him desire her more, but Malvagio has strict rules against this.  Instead he tortures his son and lets Juliana live in the castle with them.  

He wants her and she seems to notice this, despite his attempts to hide his feelings.  And as his powers advance, Juliana reasons and pleads for Daray to leave.  He should not only leave the one person he's ever known to trust... but he should also walk away from his magic.  The more she tries to convince him, the more determined he becomes to go against her, love... and the rules of magic.

Before I come to an end with this premier and get to work on uploading 10K of STRONGER, I want to say a bit about the prologue.
The first part I have showed you is a poem.  The poem, you find out later, has significance --to more than what you might first think.  The first and last lines of the poem are in French.  Daray and his father live in France; however, since I do not take French, nor do I care to deal with translations and etc. this is probably the only pieces of French you will see in the book.  All the same, I'll save you the trouble and tell you what the two lines translate to.

Hopefully this premier has gotten you caught up in the story.  I will continue to keep you up to date with the project as time passes.  In the mean while, if you are not on the mailing list please request to be now.   As soon as this book goes public there's going to be fires blazing.  Literally not kidding, but I cannot tell you any more than that.

          It’s almost ironic how easily you can fall for a man, and you fall even faster when he shows interest towards you.  If only love could be so simple…

          I watch Daray from where I sit.  A frown is upon his face—sometimes I consider this may never change—and he sits alone in the dark corner of the room.  I want to go to him; there surely is something I could say.  However, I think otherwise.  I tell myself to remain where I am, and this seems reasonable since Malvagio always has an eye on matters.  As if knowing my thoughts went to him for a second, Malvagio appears out of nowhere and places his hand on my shoulder.

          “A gloomy day…” He says.  I wait, but he does not say anything more.  After a week being here I have not gotten used to his odd comments that never have closure.

          “How so?” I ask, though I agree with him entirely.

          He smirks and walks over to Daray.  They speak for a minute, and then Malvagio continues on his way.  I only watch him until he is out of sight because I could care less where he is going to.  Strangely enough Daray comes to sit beside me.  I try to not act surprised, but goose bumps cover my arms.  He looks at me with his head titled, as if trying to decide if I am mad or simply strange.

          There is whistling from further down the hallway, though I know it to be Malvagio.  As I turn to ask Daray a question I realize he has already left me.  I look and surely enough he had returned to the dark corner of the room.  Why does he sit in the corner?  For how much longer will he do that?  What has made him this way?

          “Juliana, Juliana, Juliana…” Malvagio sings as he walks by me yet again.

          There is something evil in that man.  I have known that since the first day I arrived here, yet each day I am convinced furthermore to believe this as the truth.  Each day I see his acts against everything pure and precious in the world… each moment there are similar acts Daray wishes to commit.  He needs to leave this place; I am desperate to tell him this because if I do not soon I fear I shall never be able to leave.  Besides that, he will never admit his feelings for me… Whatever feelings he has left…
