News update

Book JacketSadly it does not look like I'll have chapter 13 of Cursed with Power finished this evening because I've been reviewing the whole book and I was also preparing myself for once I start working on New Life.
Book JacketOf course by doing that I did manage to get myself somewhat distracted because for a while I was debating over two different summaries for New Life.  At last, though, I was successful in deciding which one I liked best that would keep the interest of my readers.

And though this is not for sure... I think I may be writing Innocent & Young for Nanowrimo.  Again, it's not set in stone yet though, so there may still be a chance I change my mind come November.  For me it's a really big deal because as I've said I want to pick a book that I will follow and write my heart out to through the 30 days of the contest.

Dyanna's death

Currently writingWhen I blogged yesterday that I would be doing some revisions to chapter one because I felt that these revisions would be necessary, I think I may have made it sound like I was going to be making drastic changes.  (And I really hope that drastic is the right word to use, but if it's not my apologies for not having the greatest word choice in the morning).
You see, I've added in some more about Dyanna.  Since she is already dead when the book begins you don't really get to be there the day of her leaving Celestria.  One of my friends on IP, TomW, suggested that I put more about Dyanna in the first chapter because then the readers will care more about the fact that she's dead.  He believes that so long as the reader knows --or feels they know, in this case--the character who died they will have more sympathy towards their death and the people who were effected by it.
I'm hoping that what I've put in about Dyanna in the first chapter is good enough for readers to care, but you know that I'm always interested in hearing other opinions.  Read it.  Please note that on IP chapter one is actually chapter two because I had to make my prologue count as the first chapter.  (Well, I didn't have to but I wanted to do it that way; it would have bothered me if the prologue and the first chapter were together).
For those of you who haven't read Cursed with Power yet and you're thinking to yourself, "She's kind of giving away a lot to those of us who haven't read it..." Don't fret over it because I am actually not giving away much that you did not already know.  As I said, Dyanna's death is something you're told at the very beginning of the book --it's even in the prologue.  As you continue to read farther in the book you're going to find that the events about Dyanna's death and the fact that no body was ever recovered will continue to haunt Celestria's thoughts.  You could say that even though Dyanna's dead she gets her own parts in the book to play out in her death.
Secrets, secrets, secrets.... I fear that if I continue on about Dyanna I might give away something that I definitely do not want to give away.  If you want to know what all the significance of Dyanna's death is and find out if Celestria's going to live you'll have to read the book for yourself.
Read it. Review it. Comment. Add it.

Working on Cursed with Power

I have just spent what feels like forever on the Writer Interviews for today, but now I really must get back to serious business.  I have a new story idea that I just want to quickly save on IP and set to private and then I have to get to work on...
Currently writingToday I am going back to chapter one of Cursed with Power and re-editing that.  I have actually been advised by one of my top favorite online authors that it would probably be best I show Dyanna's death or show Dyanna in the first chapter so readers will care about her and understand also why Celestria is so hurt because of this.
You, like me, might be wondering what I'm going to do.  To be honest I have not an idea because I still want to keep the beginning with the dream that Celestria has.... I guess that's why I need to start working on it now so I can sit and ponder about that for a while.  (Or a very long time).
Nonetheless, I am hopeful in figuring out something before the end of the day and if I don't... You guys will be hearing about it because I'll suddenly be like "Guys, this sucks.  I came up with nothing." But you and I both know we don't want that kind of post to come up, so I promise I'm going to give it my all to see what is left in my brain and what words I still know at the moment.  Do you ever have those moments where you feel you're completely losing any good word choice you knew at a time?  Sometimes I have days like that.... *sigh*

What's new?

Well, I'm glad you asked because I can actually tell you several things.  Whether you want to read this or no I'll leave for you to decide.
I lied when I said that I am now reading Bourne Objective.  I am actually reading Magic Under Glass because I discovered this book at the library and it sounded really good.  I am only into the fourth chapter now, but already is has my full attention.  If you want to read a story with romance, mystery, and perhaps, yes, even some magic this is definitely the book!  Seeing as I like it so much already, I may very well post up a review about it when I'm finished.
Currently writingCursed with Power went up to 967 in ranking.  While I'm a bit devastated to see it go up in ranking again, I have not lost all hope.  After all, I am not even finished with the book yet so I have a ways to go before I start really getting everyone to read it.

In case you didn't see, I added music to the blog.  I know it seems like a lot of the songs are by male artists, but please know that I did not do this on purpose.  It just so happens that I was trying to think of some of my very favorite songs to share with you, and a lot of them are ones I have listened to recently.

And I am returning to book swaps.  (Sort of)... It is just taking me forever, I realize, because I want so badly to just work on my book instead.  Of course, if I never do the book swaps then I'll never hear back from others, so I am forcing myself along very slowly.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but I did start chapter 13 yesterday.  I feel like I have not been working on Cursed with Power in a really long time, and I think because of that feeling I am going to read back a lot of it to myself so I can refresh my memory.
And for now that's about all...
